Our Co-operative Spirit
In a Co-operative Nursery School the parents of a child that is registered become active Members in the Co-operative. Parents and children both benefit from the parent’s active participation in their child’s first school experience. Parents are able to see their child’s Nursery School experience first hand during duty days and daily feedback is given by teacher(s) during pick-up time. Open and ongoing communication between parents and the school is necessary to ensure the success of the program. Regular communication regarding the program is maintained through: a monthly newsletter; a calendar of events outlining themes, special days and upcoming field trips; and a bulletin board describing daily planned activities. The school also makes every effort to encourage parents to provide input, feedback and comments.

How it all began
The Osgoode Co-operative Nursery School (OCNS) began many years ago by a group of parents who recognized the importance of establishing a local pre-school to enhance our children’s journey of learning. It began at Osgoode Public School with support from our entire community.
Apple Orchard (300x201)Parents, Businesses, School Boards and Municipal Officials rallied together to establish the first ever Osgoode Co-operative Nursery School. OCNS was incorporated in 1981. It is because of this strong sense of community and caring for our children that our nursery school continues to be one of the most respected schools in our area.
